Got my copy of the Society for Ecological Restoration’s Tallgrass Restoration Handbook in the mail today. Absolutely salivating and can’t wait for the prescribed fire season. American Robins showing up. Cardinal song. Here we go!
–As snowy as this winter’s been, it’s been nothing like the Great Snow of 1717.
–It’s Imbolc/Candlemas, midway between the solstice and equinox. Read all about the intercultural history of this holiday.

–The American West is still in an incredible water crisis.
–Also, of course, Egypt.
